damper valve

damper valve
A butterfly valve in an air duct. When the valve is open, the air flows through the duct; when it is closed, the butterfly valve is perpendicular to the airflow and does not permit any air to flow into the system. These valves are normally used in environmental systems and in fire-fighting systems. In the latter case, they shut off air supply to the combustion chamber in the event of a fire or an over-heating condition.
